Europe Day 2019

Our vocation is encapsulated in these three words: Together for Europe (TfE). We start ‘together’ from the life of the Gospel ‘for’ one purpose: ‘Europe’. In fact, twenty years ago, the initiators of our ecumenical network said: ‘By bringing the Christian soul into Europe, we want to be at the service of a change in politics’.

At the end of the intense experience at the meeting of the Friends of TfE in Prague in November 2018, everyone could feel more European. Czechs, Germans, French, Russians, Italians, Slovenians and Austrians…, yes, but also Europeans

And this is the witnessing that Europe is waiting from us: that unity in reconciled diversity is possible. The path of Together for Europeits 20-year history, is the custodian of this experience It is a way of life: the more we give ourselves as Slovaks, Romanians, Swiss etc. with our richness to other peoples, the more European we are and vice versa. It is a promising track, where unity and diversity walk together.

9 May, Europe Day, as well as European Union Day, is also waiting to be supported by these values. The great European polyphonic choir waits for the voice: ‘The future of Europe lies in a culture of Togetherness’.
