Anche Roma ha solennizzato la Festa dell’Europa
Raccogliendo un suggerimento partito da Praga (incontro degli Amici dello scorso novembre), il gruppo romano di Insieme per l’Europa (in cui sono attivi 13 Movimenti*), dal 25 marzo al 9 maggio ha animato celebrazioni e preghiere per il nostro Continente in 5 Basiliche legate ai Santi patroni d’Europa, coinvolgendo le rispettive comunità.
Nei mesi precedenti l’evento commemorativo della Festa dell’Europa, il gruppo romano ha preparato, in più tappe, con iniziative ispirate ad alcuni dei“7 Sì” programmatici del messaggio di Stoccarda 2007, diverse manifestazioni.
Cosi, per sostenere il “Sì” alla vita e alla famiglia, ci si è inseriti nel programma del ‘Villaggio per la Terra’, che a Villa Borghese ha visto un approfondimento di Gianluigi de Palo (Presidente Nazionale Forum Associazioni Familiari) sul tema “Più forte la famiglia più forte l’Europa”, approfondimento moderato da Alessandra Balsamo (Presidente Forum Associazioni Familiari Lazio) e con l’intervento, ricco di testimonianze personali, di Vincenzo Bassi (Vicepresidente FAFCE). Per affermare il “Sì” al Creato, il gruppo ha sostenuto il Convegno promosso dall’Associazione ‘La Civiltà dell’Amore’ su “Pace nucleare e sfide ambientali”, svoltosi in Vaticano la mattina dell’8 maggio, vigilia della Festa dell’Europa.
Nel pomeriggio dello stesso giorno, l’evento relativo alla Festa dell’Europa è entrato nel vivo. Nella Sala “Spazio Europa” (gestita dall’ufficio in Italia del Parlamento europeo e dalla Rappresentanza della Commissione Europea), si è tenuto un incontro culturale dal titolo “Nello spirito dei Padri Fondatori, una nuova economia per l’Europa”, introdotto e approfondito da una intensa relazione del Prof. Leonardo Becchetti (docente di Economia politica all’Università Tor Vergata di Roma) alla quale ha fatto seguito un dibattito molto partecipato e sentito. La conferenza è stata definita di alto contenuto scientifico e di grande interesse da tutti i 100 partecipanti i quali hanno apprezzato la passione ‘didattica’ del relatore: esprimendo un deciso plauso per quella che, più che una lezione di economia sostenibile, è stata una riflessione profonda e ricca di spunti originali e illuminanti.
Dopo l’incontro culturale, nella bellissima Basilica dei Santi XII Apostoli, si è svolta una Veglia Ecumenica per l’Europa ispirata alla Parola “… e ciascuno li sentiva parlare la propria lingua” (At 2,6). Davanti a quasi 400 persone, sull’altare, con il parroco francescano fra’ Agnello, Gabriela Lio (Pastora Battista), Luca Maria Negro (Presidente della FCEI), Padre Federico Lombardi (Gesuita), l’Archimandrita Simeon Katsinas (del Patriarcato ortodosso di Costantinopoli), il Vescovo ausiliare e Segretario Generale del Vicariato di Roma Mons. Gianrico Ruzza, P. Gheorghe Militaru (in rappresentanza del Vescovo Siluan, del Patriarcato romeno-ortodosso), si sono alternati nelle letture e nelle riflessioni di passi biblici.
Interessanti e di importante contenuto tutti gli interventi: l’analisi dell’odierna Europa del giornalista Enzo Romeo; la presentazione delle ‘madri dell’Europa’ accompagnata dalla lettura di passi significativi del loro pensiero, la testimonianza della ventenne Rola, siriana proveniente da Homs, giunta a Roma dal Libano grazie ai corridoi umanitari attivati dalla Comunità di Sant’Egidio, dalla Fcei, e dalla Chiesa Valdese. È stata soprattutto apprezzata la partecipazione di esponenti di altre confessioni cristiane che ha conferito all’evento un’impronta ecumenica importante e significativa, mostrando coi fatti che l’amore scambievole è più forte delle diversità.
Molto affiatato e apprezzato il “coro” formato, per l’occasione, da 28 coristi provenienti da 5 Comunità e Movimenti diversi, che ha favorito il clima di unità. È stata proprio una bella esperienza di comunione cristiana, ci si conosce e si collabora, si prega e si serve insieme.

Auch Rom hat den Europatag feierlich begangen
Die römische Gruppe von Miteinander für Europa (in der 13 Bewegungen aktiv sind *) hat die Anregung von Prag beim Treffen des Trägerkreises im November letzten Jahres aufgenommen und vom 25. März bis 9. Mai zu verschieden Feiern und Gebete für unseren Kontinent eingeladen. In den dazu aufgesuchten fünf Basiliken sind die jeweiligen Gemeinden mit einbezogen worden.
Es wurde dann beschlossen, die Gedenkveranstaltung des Europafestes in mehreren Etappen durch Initiativen vorzubereiten, die sich auf einige der in Stuttgart 2007 formulierten «7 Ja» beziehen. Um das «Ja zum Leben und zur Familie» zu präsentieren, hat man sich ins Programm des «Villaggio per la Terra» in der Villa Borghese aufnehmen lassen. Der Beitrag bestand aus einem Impuls von Gianluigi de Palo (nationaler Präsident des Forum für Familienvereinigungen) über «Je stärker die Familie, desto stärker Europa» mit der Moderation von Alessandra Balsamo (Präsidentin des Forum für Familienvereinigungen Lazio) und dem Bericht von Vincent Bassi (Vize-Präsident FAFCE), der reich an persönlichen Erfahrungen war. Um das «Ja zur Schöpfung» zu bekräftigen, unterstützen wir die Konferenz, die am Morgen des 8. Mai vom Verband «La Civiltà dell’Amore» über das Thema «Nuklearer Frieden und ökologische Herausforderungen» im Vatikan stattfand.
Am Nachmittag desselben Tages begann die zentrale Veranstaltung im Saal «Spazio Europa» (Raum Europas), der vom Büro des Europäischen Parlaments in Italien und der Vertretung der Europäischen Kommission verwaltet wird. Dort fand ein kulturelles Treffen mit dem Titel «Im Geist der Gründerväter, eine neue Wirtschaft für Europa», mit der Anwesenheit von Prof. Leonardo Becchetti (Professor für Politische Ökonomie an der Tor Vergata Universität in Rom) statt. Es folgte eine rege Debatte. Die Konferenz wurde als von hohem wissenschaftlichem Inhalt und von großem Interesse für alle 100 Teilnehmer definiert, die die große «didaktische» Leidenschaft des Referenten sehr geschätzt haben: Mehr als eine Lektion über nachhaltige Wirtschaft, ging es um eine tiefe Reflexion, reich an originellen und klärenden Anregungen.
Nach dem kulturellen Treffen zogen wir in die schöne Basilika der XII Apostel zu einem ökumenisches Gebet für Europa. Es stand unter dem Bibelwort «…jeder hörte sie in seiner Sprache reden» (Apg 2,6).
Vor etwa 400 Anwesenden wechselten sich am Altar zur Bibellesung und zu kurzen Betrachtungen der Franziskaner Bruder Agnello, Gabriela Lio (Baptistin, Predigerin), Luca Maria Negro (Präsident des FCEI), Pater Federico Lombardi (Jesuit, ehem. Pressesprecher des Vatikans), Archimandrit Simeon Katsinas (orthodoxes Patriarchat von Konstantinopel), der Weihbischof von Rom, Generalsekretär des römischen Vikariats Gianrico Ruzza, Pater Gheorghe Militaru (Vertretung des Bischofs Siluan, des rumänisch-orthodoxen Patriarchats).
Interessant und von wichtigem Inhalt waren alle Beiträge, wie die Analyse des heutigen Europas seitens Enzo Romeo, Journalist; die Präsentation der «Mütter Europas», begleitet von bedeutenden Zitaten; das Zeugnis der 20 jährigen Rola aus Homs (Syrien), die dank der humanitären Korridore nach Rom kommen konnte. Die Teilnahme von Vertretern verschiedener Kirchen wurde besonders geschätzt, da sie der Veranstaltung eine ökumenischen Dimension gab, die mit Fakten zeigte, dass die gegenseitige Liebe stärker ist als die Unterschiede.
Einen wichtigen und sehr harmonischen Beitrag gab auch der Chor, der sich zu diesem Anlass als solcher gebildet hatte und aus 28 Personen aus 5 Bewegungen bestand.

Rome, too, celebrated the Feast of Europe
The Together for Europe group in Rome took up the suggestion put forward during the Prague meeting of the Friends which was held last November. This group is made up of 13 Movements[1]. Thus, from March 25 till May 9 the group enlivened celebrations and prayers for our Continent in 5 Basilicas which are linked to the patron Saints of Europe, during which the respective communities were involved.
We wanted the main event marking the Feast of Europe to be prepared in various stages with initiatives linked to the programmatic 7 Yeses (Cf Stuttgart 2007 message). Thus, to present the “Yes to Life and to Family” the program of the ‘Village for the earth’ held at Villa Borghese included a talk by Gianluca de Palo (National President of the Forum of the Associations of Families) on the theme “A stronger the family means a stronger Europe”. The chairperson was Alessandra Balsamo (President of the Forum for the Lazio region) and Vincenzo Bassi delivered a speech interspersed with personal experiences.
A Meeting was held to affirm the “Yes to Creation”; this was organized by the Association ‘The Civilization of Love’ and the theme chosen was “Nuclear peace and environmental challenges”. This Meeting was held in the Vatican on May 8.
That same day, in the afternoon, the main event was in full swing. In the Hall “Spazio Europa” (run by the European Parliament office in Italy and the Representatives of the European Commission) a cultural meeting was held with a keynote speech on the theme “A new economy for Europe in the spirit of the Founding Fathers”. The speaker was Prof. Leonardo Becchetti who teaches Political Economy at the Tor Vergata University in Rome. This was followed by a well-participated debate. The speech was defined as being of a high scientific standard and of great interest to the 100 listeners who also appreciated the ‘teaching’ passion of the speaker: rather than a lesson on sustainable economy, they were regaled with a profound reflection imbued with original and illuminating ideas.
After this cultural event we proceeded toward the most beautiful Basilica of the XII Apostles, where the ecumenical Prayer Vigil was to be held on the text “…each one heard their own language being spoken” (Acts 2:6).
The congregation numbered about 400. Next to the altar, together with the parish priest, Fr Agnello, there were Gabriela Lio (Baptist Pastor), Luca Maria Negro (President of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy), Fr Federico Lombardi (Jesuit), the Archimandrite Simeon Katsinas (of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Constantinople), Mgr Gianrico Ruzza who is an Auxiliary Bishop of Rome and the Secretary General at the Vicariate of Rome, and Fr Gheorghe Militaru (representing Bishop Siluan of the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchate), who alternated in reading excerpts from the Bible and offered some reflections.
All the input offered was important and interesting. This goes also for the analyses of today’s Europe given by the journalist Enzo Romeo, the presentation of the ‘mothers’ of Europe and the witnessing by Rola, 20, from the Syrian city of Homs who arrived in Italy thanks to the safe human passageways organized from Lebanon by the Community of St Egidio, the Evangelical Churches and the Waldesian Church.
The participation of various Christian Confessions was highly appreciated because this conferred an important ecumenical stamp, thus showing that mutual love is stronger than the differences.
The choir which enlivened the Vigil was made up of 28 singers from 5 different Movements. And what a good job they did!

Le varie iniziative di Insieme a Parigi
Il 2 aprile ci siamo incontrati per un momento di preghiera ecumenica nella bellissima cappella delle diaconesse di Reuilly a Parigi, preghiera organizzata e portata avanti dal gruppo di Insieme per l’Europa (IpE) e dalla comunità locale.
“Buona sera a tutti e grazie di essere venuti questa sera. Siamo a pochi giorni dalle elezioni europee e vogliamo offrire a Dio tutti i dibattiti, le idee che invadono i nostri spiriti e i nostri cuori. E vogliamo pregare insieme per l’Europa”. Così ci siamo accolti a vicenda.
Dopo una presentazione dell’iniziativa di IpE, si sono susseguiti canti, meditazioni, tempi di silenzio… Il momento culminante è stato quando – dopo la meditazione sui “7 Sì’” del messaggio di IpE a Stuttgart nel 2007 – ognuno ha potuto scrivere, leggere a tutti ed attaccare la sua preghiera su una cartina dell’Europa. La nostra preghiera si è poi aperta sul mondo intero, più specificamente sull’Africa, con l’aiuto di un cantante che ha vissuto tanti anni in quel Continente. Alla fine della serata era difficile lasciarsi, tanto i rapporti di unità erano diventati profondi.
Il 4 maggio eravamo presenti come l’anno scorso sulla piazza del Municipio di Parigi per festeggiare l’Europa. Con 40 altre associazioni che lavorano per l’Europa avevamo allestito uno stand nel “Village Européen”. E’ stata l’occasione di tantissimi contatti con persone di Parigi, europei di passaggio … Quest’anno abbiamo centrato la presentazione sui “7 Sì”. Varie persone ci hanno detto quanto essi corrispondevano alle loro attese.
Il 14 maggio la comunità Emmanuel ha preso l’iniziativa di una Veglia di preghiera per l’Europa in una bella chiesa à Longjumeau, nella regione di Parigi. Dopo una presentazione di Insieme per l’Europa, ci sono stati bellissimi canti di lode con molte intenzioni di preghiera per l’Europa, sulla base dei “7 Sì” proposti come meditazione. Le impressioni e gli echi dopo la Veglia ci hanno fatto capire che, essendo alla vigilia delle Elezioni europee, questo momento di preghiera era un’occasione privilegiata, più che necessaria per affidare tutto allo Spirito Santo.
