Here is the multi-coloured news of Together for Europe: local and international meetings, experiences, testimonies, cultural contributions, reflections and other news.
Self-awareness, serving the common good
In Rome, at the event organised for Europe Day, I meet Aldo Bernabei, who has long been committed in the political world to create opportunities for young Europeans to meet, engage socially and work together. On this occasion, he tells me about a recent European Union Project: the European Solidarity Corps.
Building Europe Together
In Munich, celebrations around Europe Day took place for a whole month. In this context, Together for Europe participated in the city centre with a stand. Many people visited the stand, including children and young people: the generations that will carry Europe into the future.
Stopping for peace
In the central square of Würzburg (Germany) people prayed together for peace on 8 May, on the eve of Europe Day 2024. The aim was also to make known how some of those taking part were committed to peace in their everyday lives and to encourage those present to do the same.
Connection Generations
On 8 May, Together for Europe celebrated Europe Day 2024 together with the Carinthia Region and Europahaus. Schools from the region, EU project promoters and representatives of various Movements that form part of the Network participated.
For Peace!
‘Today we have rekindled the flame’. This was the spontaneous expression of the moderator at the end of the ecumenical prayer for peace in Portugal, on the occasion of Europe Day 2024. The celebration took place in the Cedofeita church in Porto with the presence of representatives of various Churches in the area.
Reawakening responsibility
The event organised on the occasion of Europe Day 2024 in Rome on 10 May was attended by around 150 people. Alongside members of various Movements and Communities were people from the European institutions, including Hon. Silvia Costa and Filippo Sassoli, brother of David M. Sassoli. In the second part of the programme, an ecumenical prayer took place in the adjacent church: 10 Churches and Ecclesial Communities were present.
Having coffee together!
On the theme ‘Seeking peace together and what is best for the city’ (cf. Jer 29:7), some 30 Christians committed to Together for Europe (TfE) met on Tuesday 16 April 2024 in the parish hall of St Paul's in Innsbruck, to take a shared look at the city of Innsbruck and...
Europe, be yourself
An appeal in view of the upcoming European elections. The document emphasises the importance of Christian values as fundamental for the construction of Europe and invites the European institutions to a regular and transparent dialogue with Churches and religious associations, as foreseen in Article 17 of the Lisbon Treaty.
Toward the future with confidence
From 11 to 13 April 2024, the European Steering Committee of Together for Europe (TfE) met for its annual retreat in Vallendar, the Schönstatt Centre. 21 members from seven Movements represented on the Steering Committee took part. Among them were: Father Alexandre...
DialogUE and the ecology of relationships
A few months ago a veteran of Together for Europe asked me if our network has any influence on the life of the Continent. The question surprised me, but behind the words I sensed the real question: ‘did my-our work make sense’? Last year, the European Union invited us to participate in a call that “promotes citizens’ participation and involvement in the democratic life of the EU” in these three fields: communication, social policy and ecology The webinar held on 2 March developed the latter.
