Meeting of the Friends of

Together for Europe 2018

Prague, 9-11 November 2018

From 9 to 11 November 2018, the Meeting of the ‘Friends of Together for Europe’ took place.”. 170 representatives from 21 nations and 53 Communities and Movements from different Churches gathered in Prague in the Czech Republic.

There, in Central and Eastern Europe, a common desire: to face the difficulties, prejudices and fears that are heavily present at the moment, especially among the member states of the European Union and beyond. There were numerous opportunities for personal exchange and group discussions. High-level thematic impulses were offered by theologian Tomáš Halík, politician Pavel Fischer and historian Jaroslav Šebek. The presence of a large number of young people characterised the entire meeting. Some of their impressions: “In times of pluralism and ‘religious cooling’ we have the necessary enthusiasm; we feel the responsibility to play our part in building a Europe united in politics, society and spirit”; “We can learn and receive so much from each other”; “For three days, Prague 2018 became the international capital in the heart of Europe‘”.
